Starfield Skill Guide

The first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years, Starfield is a hotly anticipated AAA single player, action role playing game which takes place across the vastness of space. This space exploration game will have many of the typical Bethesda game hallmarks – a robust main story and side quests, elaborate character creation, and an extraordinary amount of exploration. What skills will your character have and how will players level them up? Let’s take a look at what we know so far in our Starfield Skill Guide.

Skill Guide

Skills in Starfield are broken up into the following five main categories:

  • Physical
  • Social
  • Combat
  • Science
  • Tech

These categories are likely pretty straight forward: Physical for carry capacity and stamina/endurance, Social for how persuasive (or perhaps even manipulative) your character can be when making deals, Combat skills will affect damage done across different types of weapons, while the Science and Tech categories will likely cover some mix of research timers, crafting and/or harvesting abilities, outpost construction, weapons mods and maybe even lock picking.

You can get a head start in some of these skill by choosing certain Backgrounds in the initial Character Creation. Choosing certain professions for your character, such as Chef or Diplomat, will give the player a small advantage of a few early, unlocked skills.
