Starfield Trademark

All games have to start somewhere, whether they are a continuation of a franchise or the start of a completely new world. What is the history of the development of Starfield and when was the game officially Trademark?

The first new intellectual property developed by Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years, Starfield is a hotly anticipated AAA single player, action role playing game which takes place across the vastness of space. Originally scheduled for release in November of this year, the game has been delayed to an as yet unspecified date sometime in the first half of 2023. This space exploration game will have many of the typical Bethesda game hallmarks – a robust main story and side quests, elaborate character creation, and an extraordinary amount of exploration.

Starfield Trademark

ZeniMax filed for a trademark for Starfield on September 9, 2013. The trademark covered:

Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the Internet and wireless devices; computer game software for use with on-line interactive games, clothing, namely, T-shirts, shirts, sweatshirts, pants, jackets, fleece pullovers; headwear, namely, hats; footwear, namely shoes and sneakers, and computer and video game user instruction manuals; magazines, books, and pamphlets concerning video games; computer and video game strategy guide books and magazines; trading cards, maps, posters, advertisement boards of paper or cardboard, art prints.

This filing was a clear indicator of either ZeniMax or some game development subsidiary beginning work on a game they intended to call Starfield. It wasn’t until June 10, 2018 that the game was officially announced as a new Bethesda title to be released at a much future date.
